KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): Sapura Energy Bhd has redesignated Pemodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) president and chief executive officer (CEO) Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed as its non-independent and non-executive chairman, effective Feb 1, 2020.

In a series of bourse filings, the oil and gas (O&G) company revealed Abdul Jalil will be replacing Datuk Hamzah Bakar, 76, who is retiring from the group’s board.

Abdul Jalil will also be taking over Hamzah’s position as chairman for Sapura Energy’s remuneration committee.

Abdul Jalil was first appointed to the group’s board as a non-independent and non-executive director on Jan 1, 2020.

Meanwhile, Syed Ali Syed Salem Alsagoff, 44, will be made non-independent and non-executive director on Feb 1 as well.

PNB and its associate funds collectively own a 40% stake in Sapura Energy.

At noon market trade today, Sapura Energy was flat at 25.5 sen, valuing it at RM4.08 billion.
