KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 8): PLS Plantations Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) to work on a proposal for the National Food Security Policy.

In a bourse filing on Monday (Aug 8), PLS said the MOU signed on Saturday was for the company and MAFI to negotiate and formalise the structure, scope and terms upon which they will participate in various capacities in the Proposal for National Food Security Enhancement.

It said upon execution of the MOU, PLS will conduct a study of ways to improve the nation’s food security and put forward a proposal based on the results of the study within 12 months from the date of the MOU.

It said MAFI had agreed to provide all necessary assistance to PLS, without financial implications and violating any Government circular or procedures.

“The MOU is effective from the date of execution and shall continue to be in force until the earlier of: i) expiry of the research period; ii) completion of the proposal; or iii) unless mutually terminated by the parties before the expiry of the research period,” it said.
