KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 27): Pharmaniaga Bhd has appointed the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Felcra Bhd, Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope, as its new managing director (MD), replacing Datuk Farshila Emran who left the company at end-March following the expiry of her contract.

Zulkarnain's appointment will take effect on Sept 1. The 53-year-old is currently also a board member at Daya Materials Bhd and Institute of Plantation Management, according to Pharmaniaga.

“Datuk Zulkarnain is a well-developed professional with [a] good network with various Government Ministries in Malaysia. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan,” said the pharmaceutical company in a statement today.

He joined Felcra in 2014 as its chief investment officer, and was promoted as the CEO post in 2016. He subsequently left Felcra in October 2018.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Iqbal Abdul Rahman, who has been the Pharmaniaga's acting MD since April 1 this year, will assume the post of deputy MD.

Shares of Pharmaniaga closed two sen or 0.35% lower at RM5.62 today, valuing the company at RM1.47 billion.
