KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 21): Petronas Nasional Bhd (Petronas) expects its maiden floating liquefied natural gas facility (PFLNG1) to start commission in offshore Sarawak in the first quarter of next year (1Q16).

The PFLNG1 was earlier slated for commissioning by the end of this year.

Petronas vice-president and venture director of domestic LNG projects Datuk Abdullah Karim said the initial sail off date was in September this year, but there had been a slight delay mainly due the upcoming monsoon season that is deemed unfit for a sail off.

He added that the PFLNG1 is now 91% complete and is on schedule for a sail off in February next year.

"The facility should be onsite (the Kanowit gas field) latest on March 1. Suffice to say the first LNG cargo from the field will be seen in 1Q16," Abdullah told reporters at a project update briefing here today.
