KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) says it has never been requested to look into the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) development project, which is under 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

In a statement released by the national oil firm today, it said: “Petronas can confirm that we have never been requested to look into TRX development.”

“In fact, we have sufficient on-going developments at KLCC (area), comprising office buildings, a hotel and extension of retail space being undertaken by KLCC Holdings Sdn Bhd (our property arm) and its partners,” said Petronas.

KLCC Holdings is the holding company for KLCC Property Holdings Bhd and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust.

The statement came after the group’s media briefing on its first quarter results for FY2015.

During the press conference, Petronas’ president and chief executive officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin was asked if Petronas would consider purchasing land in TRX for KLCC Property, in which he did not comment but shook his head instead.
