KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 30): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) said today the company wishes to state in the strongest terms that the allegations in a blog post are unsubstantiated and untrue.

"With reference to malicious allegations contained in a post in an unverified online site, Petronas wishes to state in the strongest terms that the allegations are unsubstantiated and untrue.

"Petronas maintains the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency in all our business dealings and we will not hesitate to take action against anyone who continues to malign the reputation and integrity of the company or its people.

"Petronas has filed reports with the relevant authorities in regards to the posting and we leave the matter to the authorities for their further action," Petronas said.

Petronas did not specify in its statement the allegations in the blog post, and the online site which published the allegations.

Yesterday (Jan 29), a Sabahkini2.com report queried whether it is true that certain companies received preferential treatment from Petronas as long as there are scandalous relationships and bribe payments involved.

Sabahkini2.com alleged that Uzma Bhd received preferential treatment from Petronas.

At the time of writing this theedgemarkets.com report, Uzma had not issued a statement in response to the allegations in the Sabahkini2.com report.
