KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 3): Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PCG) and US-based fertiliser maker Anuvia Plant Nutrients have entered into an agreement, under which PCG will produce and market Anuvia's fertiliser in the Asia-Pacific region.

“PCG is excited to be a part of this journey towards improving farmers’ income and global food security," PCG managing director and chief executive officer Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 2).

"We will continue to provide innovative solutions to expand our market share and capture future opportunities, given the rising demand for sustainable products within the Asia-Pacific region," Mohd Yusri said.

According to the statement, the partnership aims to assist PCG’s venture into the sustainable fertiliser segment, and contribute to the company's overall goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

For Anuvia, the partnership opens its technology to one of the world’s largest agricultural markets, the statement said.

Anuvia CEO Amy Yoder said in the statement that the agreement with PCG is a good example of how Anuvia's technology can be used to improve nutrient management around the world.

“Working with Petronas, we can make immediate, significant impact on food security and soil health, all while decreasing the environmental footprint of agriculture,” Yoder said.
