KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Five companies have been awarded contracts by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) to provide maintenance, construction and modification (MCM) services at its offshore facilities in peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

The companies are Carimin Engineering Services Sdn Bhd, Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Deleum Primera Sdn Bhd, Petra Resources Sdn Bhd, Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd and its joint venture partner, Borneo Seaoffshore Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Petronas, in a statement today, said the five companies will carry out engineering and maintenance services, which includes topside major maintenance (TMM) as well as facilities improvement projects (FIP) for a five-year period from September 2017, with an option to extend an additional year.

“These contracts encompass requirements such as the utilisation of marine vessels from Malaysia-owned companies only and the mandatory participation of 20% local state service providers to spur value-added services that ensures growth in Malaysia’s oil and gas upstream services industry,” said Petronas’ vice president of Malaysia assets and PCSB chief executive officer Mohd Jukris Abdul Wahab.

These new requirements were introduced to encourage collaboration across the industry supply chain, said Petronas.

PCSB currently operates 200 offshore platforms in Malaysia.
