KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): Petra Energy Bhd fell as much as 30 sen or 28.6% to 75 sen today after the oil and gas support services provider released its first quarter results, which showed a quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) drop in revenue and profit after tax.

Petra said yesterday in a statement to Bursa Malaysia that its RM111.8 million revenue for the first quarter ended March 31, 2019 (1QFY19) was 41.7% lower compared to immediate preceding quarter.

"The group recorded profit after taxation of RM1.7 million as compared to RM20.8 million in 4QFY18, in line with the decrease in activities occurred during 1QFY19," the group said.

Petra's 1QFY19 revenue and net profit, however, rose from a year earlier. The group posted a net profit of RM1.72 million for 1QFY19 from RM1.02 million a year earlier while revenue increased to RM111.85 million from RM67.51 million.

At 12:16pm today, Petra shares cut losses at 88.5 sen, with 2.84 million shares traded. The counter was among Bursa's top decliners.
