KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 08): Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has come out with a new version of Myvi and is targeting average monthly sales of 6,000 units for the first three months.

Powering the new Myvi are 1.3 and 1.5-litre Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) engines, the company said in a statement today.

Equipped with Dual VVT-i, the engines are mated to either a five-speed manual transmission in the 1.3L variant or a four-speed E-AT automatic transmission for all variants, it added.

“The All-New Myvi represents everything we stand for at Perodua. It is the culmination of years of hard work and manufacturing experience, listening to our customers and continuously improving on our products based on their feedback,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Datuk Dr Aminar Rashid Salleh.

These new NR engines powering the new Myvi come from the Daihatsu Perodua Engine Manufacturing plant in Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan.

“The All-New Myvi is the first Perodua model to have an upper body designed completely in-house,” said the carmaker.

“It is also the first vehicle in its price range in Malaysia to introduce a suite of advanced safety features. More convenience features and equipment are offered than ever before, without compromising its trademark value for money and quality,” it added

Aminar said five variants are on offer, comprising 1.3 Standard G (manual), 1.3 Standard G, 1.3 Premium X, 1.5 High and 1.5 Advance, with prices (without insurance) ranging from RM44,300 to RM55,300

There are six colors available — Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Mystical Purple, Lava Red, Peppermint Green (new colour, 1.3 variants only) and Granite Grey (new colour, 1.5 variants only).

The new car also features Eco Idle, (1.3X, 1.5H and 1.5AV) whereby the engine automatically shuts off when the car is stopped and restarts when the brake pedal is released.

Along with aerodynamic improvements, these contribute towards fuel economy figures of 20.1 km/l for the 1.5 AT (Dual VVT-i).

“That said, Daihatsu continues to assist and support Perodua in the areas of product planning, production planning, engineering and production among others, and continue to form an integral part of the whole project team,” said Aminar.

“Not only is this a testament to our technology partner Daihatsu’s confidence in our abilities, it also allows the car to be tailored to suit the needs and wants that are unique to Malaysians,” he said.

All variants get LED headlamps, with ‘Follow Me Home’ function and headlamp leveling, smart entry with push start, a 60:40 folding rear seat and reverse sensors, making the driving experience more convenient and fuss-free.

UMW Holdings Bhd is the largest shareholder of Perodua with a 38% stake, while Daihatsu holds a 20% stake and is also the latter’s technology and technical partner.
