KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has officially launched the Perodua Aruz in Singapore, its first overseas market.

In a statement today, the carmaker said that the Aruz is priced at S$92,999 (about RM286,409), inclusive of the goods and services tax (GST) and certificate of entitlement (COE).

Perodua president and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the Aruz’s arrival in Singapore marks the first seven-seater offered by Perodua there.

“With nearly 58,000 units sold in Malaysia since its debut in 2019, the Perodua Aruz was Malaysia’s bestselling SUV (sport utility vehicle) overall in 2019 and 2020.

“We are looking forward to sharing the Aruz’s space, safety, versatility, durability, practicality and fuel efficiency with our southern neighbours,” he said.

The Perodua Aruz’s aluminium-block 1.5 litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine joins forces with an electronically-controlled automatic transmission and Eco Idle to yield a rated fuel efficiency of up to 15.6 km/l.

Other standard equipment includes LED headlamps, 17-inch two-tone alloys, keyless entry and start, and a touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera display.

The Perodua Aruz is sold by Perocom Auto Pte Ltd, the sole authorised Perodua distributor in Singapore since 1997 at its outlet in Ubi.

Perocom Auto has sold the Kancil, Kembara, Kelisa, first- and third-generation Myvis, Viva, Axia and Bezza there.

Besides Singapore, Perodua also exports to Brunei, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Fiji and Indonesia (where the Myvi is sold as the Daihatsu Sirion).
