IPOH (April 15): The Perak state government will expedite the approval of Yamaha Electronics Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd’s application to renovate its factory in Chemor near here as it will give positive impact on the state’s economy.

State Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said Yamaha’s renovation application to add one storey to two buildings in its factory complex would directly increase the company’s investment and create more job opportunities.

“The state government will ensure that all agencies involved, such as the Ipoh City Council, will give attention to the application,” he told reporters after a visit to Yamaha Electronics today.

Mohammad Nizar said if the approval could be given as soon as possible, the RM2 million renovation could be completed by this July.

“Up to RM11 million was allocated for equipment, which will add about 300 jobs,” he added.

The Yamaha Electronics’ plant in Chemor has been operating for 27 years and manufactures audio products, and employs 1,456 workers.
