KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 12): Perak Corp Bhd said its group chief executive officer, Zainal Iskandar Ismail, has stepped down from his position as executive director “to pursue other interest”.

It is not immediately clear if Zainal Iskandar, 48, is retaining his CEO position.

Zainal Iskandar’s resignation, announced in a bourse filing on Monday (Sept 12), comes after a slew of resignations by other board members of the PN17 company last month.

They included chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Manaf and independent non-executive director Tan Sri Kunasingam Sittampalam.

Perak Corp redesignated vice chairman Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak as its chairman, following Abdul Rashid’s resignation.

Perak Corp is a diversified group with operations in township development, management of ports and logistics facilities, as well as hospitality and tourism sectors.

It is 52.27%-owned by the Perak State Development Corporation, and 6.13% by Sime Darby Property Bhd.

Shares of Perak Corp closed unchanged at 36 sen on Monday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM36 million.
