KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 4): Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB) chief operating office Datuk Mahmud Fauzi Muda has been promoted to group managing director and chief executive officer effective Jan 1.

He replaces Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman, whose contract ended on Dec 31, 2018.

Mahmud has been leading PHB's operation since January 2007. He has close to 30 years of experience in the property industry, both in property investment and property development. Prior to serving PHB, Mahmud was attached to Khazanah Nasional Bhd as senior vice president. He was also a general manager at the property division of Golden Hope Plantations Bhd (now part of Sime Darby Group), as well as general manager of Island & Peninsular Bhd.

PHB, which is wholly owned by Yayasan Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera, currently owns 22 commercial buildings comprising office towers, retail malls, private hospitals as well as an industrial warehouse in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and Melaka totalling 7.4 million sq ft in lettable area.

It is also undertaking several property development projects involving office towers and a private hospital here, as well as a new retail mall in Kuala Terengganu.
