<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>In a bourse filing on Friday (April 15), Pekat said Chin, 49, was appointed as MD of Pekat in September 2020, prior to the company's listing on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>The company also announced the appointment of Tai Yee Chee as its chief operating officer and Wee Chek Aik as its chief commercial officer effective immediately.</p></div><div class=inPageAd id=div-gpt-ad-inpage></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>Both Tai and Wee were appointed as Pekat’s executive directors in September 2020. They will continue to hold their present positions.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>Chin, Tai and Wee are the company's promoters and major/substantial shareholders. As at April 15, Chin, Tai and Wee held 34.9%, 10.35% and 8.72% stakes respectively in Pekat.</p></div>

CIMB Thai Bank PCL’s net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024) dropped 24.6% year-on-year to 626.1 million baht from 830.1 million baht, as it reported lower operating income and higher expenses.  

The group recorded an 8.4% drop in operating income and an 11.8% increase in operating expenses. The effects of these were partially offset by a 36.9% decline in expected credit loss, according to CIMB Thai president and chief executive officer Paul Wong Chee Kin in a statement. CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has a 94.83% interest in CIMB Thai.
