KUALA LUMPUR (March 25): Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust (Pavilion REIT) has given rent-free period to tenants of Pavilion REIT Malls operating non-essential services during the March 18-31 Movement Control Order (MCO).

Pavilion REIT manages four malls namely Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Elite, Da Men Mall and Intermark Mall, which remains in operation during the MCO to provide essential services and supplies.

“Pavilion REIT Malls has also not been spared from the effects of the outbreak of the pandemic Covid-19 virus. The malls have undertaken proactive and stringent measures and incurred additional expenses in ensuring the health and safety of its community,” it said in a statement yesterday (March 24).

“As responsible corporate citizen, Pavilion REIT Malls are doing their part to lessen the burden of its non-essential businesses and retailers.

“Pavilion REIT Malls hope this initiative will provide the much-needed assistance for its affected businesses and retailers. It is confident of overcoming this challenging time together with its retailers, and as true business partners, emerge stronger than before,” Pavilion REIT said.

On March 23, Sunway Malls, the retail division of Sunway Group, also offered RM20 million rent free to non-essential retailers for the 14-day movement control order (MCO) period.
