KUALA LUMPUR: Blocking access to whistle-blower site Sarawak Report is a “big mistake” that will be “costly” for Putrajaya, PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said yesterday.

In a statement, Tuan Ibrahim said the move would only spur people to trust the website more instead of trusting the Malaysian government. “In today’s Internet era, the blocking is not effective and will instead spur the people more to read what is on the site,” he said.

He added that national stability would be threatened not by Sarawak Report’s articles, but by the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) saga.

“Those who think the Sarawak Report is committing slander should take legal action against it,” he said.

He also asked if Najib would sue The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which made the allegations against him, as the 14-day period in a legal letter by the prime minister’s lawyers would expire in two days. “If Najib doesn’t sue WSJ, he must go on leave immediately,” Tuan Ibrahim said. — The Malaysian Insider
