MELAKA (May 10): The new Melaka Chief Minister is expected to be sworn in tomorrow at the latest, said chairman of Melaka Pakatan Harapan (PH) Adly Zahari.

The chairman of Melaka Amanah said Melaka PH was currently in the midst of talks with the other component parties on the matter.

“Each party (within PH) will propose its candidate and we will finalise the decision (the candidate for the post of Melaka Chief Minister) soon, hopefully we will make a decision today.

“The distribution of exco seats will be discussed later,” said the Bukit Katil state assemblyman in a press conference at Graha Amanah Melaka in Bukit Katil here today.

Also present were PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, who is also the member of parliament for Hang Tuah Jaya, and PPBM Supreme Council member Mohd Rafiq Naizamohideen, who is also Paya Rumput state assemblyman.

In the 14th general election, PH obtained a simple majority after it won 15 of the 28 state seats.

Meanwhile, Adly said Melaka PH will focus on implementing its 20 pledges made in its manifesto in the next five years.

Meanwhile, Shamsul  said the coalition hoped the formation of the new state government would be conducted in an orderly and harmonious manner.

“We hope the transfer of power is conducted in an organised and proper manner,” he said.
