KUALA LUMPUR (July 10): The parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC)'s report on the missing goods and services tax (GST) tax refunds of RM19.4 billion will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat next Tuesday (July 16).

In a statement, PAC chairman Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad [BN-Parit Sulong] said the committee took 11 months starting Aug 15, 2018 to complete the report.

The report was verified by 13 PAC members today during a report verification meeting held by the parliamentary committee.

"[The completion of the report] involved 10 meetings where 10 witnesses were present including the former Finance Minister, the [current] Finance Minister, the former Finance Minister II, the former Treasury Secretary General, [the current] Treasury Secretary General, Royal Malaysian Customs Chief and Accountant General," said Noraini.

She added that the PAC has met with the Auditor General's Office three times and the Attorney General's Chambers four times, as part of the preparation of the report.

The PAC got input from the Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MEA), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Auditor General's Office, Public Service Department and Accountant's General Office for the formulation of the report.
