There have been US$24.3 billion (RM87.7 billion) worth of outflows from dedicated emerging market equity funds over the past 10 weeks. According to Morgan Stanley's report on Asia and global emerging markets (GEM) released on Jan 26, this amounts to 2.7% of the total assets under management. 
GEM regional funds saw the largest outflow at US$2.04 billion, while those in Asia, Latin America and Europe, and the Middle East and Africa recorded outflows of US$780 million, US$270 million and US$120 million respectively. 
Of the total outflows, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) contributed US$2.45 billion, or 77% of the outflows from dedicated emerging market funds. The largest outflow of ETF funds last week - US$1.46 billion - came from GEM ETF regional funds. 
At the country level for equities - which includes aggregate flows from all funds, global and dedicated emerging market funds, in US dollars - China saw the largest outflow at US$1.9 billion last week.
