KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 17): Nova MSC Bhd, the exclusive distributor of EyRIS Pte Ltd’s products, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Association of Malaysian Optometrists (AMO) and Rhazes Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd (RHAZES) to bring its artificial intelligence (AI) deep-learning technology SELENA+ into mainstream adoption in Malaysia.

Nova MSC said in a statement that with the collaboration, EyRIS’ SELENA+ will be deployed to AMO’s more than 1,000 members across Malaysia via RHAZES Telehealth.

RHAZES Telehealth is Malaysia’s first knowledge-based telehealth service provider, through its brand Rhazes TeleOpto.

EyRIS is 42% owned by novaHEALTH Pte Ltd, which in turn is wholly-owned by Nova MSC.

“We are optimistic that the collaboration with AMO and RHAZES will drive the adoption of SELENA+ in Malaysia. During the pandemic, we have seen a rise in telehealth and how it has gradually moved towards mainstream adoption,” said Nova MSC’s general manager Nazerollnizam Kasim.

According to AMO president Ahmad Fadhullah Fuzai, the deployment of SELENA+ to AMO’s member practices in the country will help to improve the range and quality of the association’s services.

“This synergistic partnership with Nova MSC will see the launch of SELENA+ and it will be deployed initially in 55 practices across Malaysia through the Rhazes TeleOpto platform, eventually expanding to the other member practices within a year,” he said.

Nova MSC closed 0.5 sen or 5% higher at 10.5 sen, valuing the group at RM122.68 million.
