KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 03): Private equity fund manager Brahmal Vasudevan buys 300,000 shares in SMRT Holdings, which recently bagged a contract from Ministry of Education to train and up-skill 1,000 English teachers.

Brahmal emerged as a substantial shareholder in SMRT Holdings in May, with 5.71% equity stake. Since then, he has been accumulating shares.

With the latest purchase, his equity interest is at 6.18% or 13.9 million shares.

SMRT Holdings share price has nearly tripled since May, from 32 sen to an all time high of 91 sen last month. The stock retreated to 79 sen today.
