Breguet-Type-XXI-3813_watch_ded040815

BREGUET has once again pledged its support to the 6th edition of the biennial charity auction organised by the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy and the Monaco Yacht Show. The Swiss luxury watch manufacturer has come up with a one-of-a-kind creation in line with the Only Watch 2015 auction event with a specially made unique Type XXI 3813 chronograph. A fine blend of mechanical horology and vintage style, the Type XXI 3813 chronograph is made for the first time in platinum.

The original Type XX watches were originally developed to order for the French military from 1954 to the 1970s. Breguet has since developed civilian models some years later thanks to the popularity of the military versions. In true vintage style, the timepiece is fitted with an aged calfskin leather strap that highlights its sophistication and pays homage to the 1950s.

The vintage style-inspired timepiece has a special flyback function featured in the original 1950s model. Thanks to this function, it gives the timepiece an instant zero-resetting and restarting chronograph counter in just one move.  This special edition watch has a mechanical self-winding 584Q/1 calibre housed in a platinum case which is fitted with a bidirectional rotating bezel. The date aperture and 12-hour counter at six o’clock help with the time measurement and it’s equipped with a day/night indicator with a small seconds subdial.

With its 42mm diameter, the timepiece has a matt slate grey dial which is stylised with Arabic numerals and has a white transferred base coated with Superluminova. The watch is further enhanced with luminescent hands and hour markers. The timepiece is presented in an exclusive box and is accompanied by a “unique piece” certificate. The watch has a 45-hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 100m.

The timepiece will be on show in Monaco till the end of September, and it will also make its way to Hong Kong, Beijing, New York and London. The watch will be sold to the highest bidder at the auction held on Nov 7 in Geneva.
