<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 26): Malaysian national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) says today&nbsp;it has not received any request from its shareholders for it to pay&nbsp;a special dividend this year.</div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>During a virtual media briefing today, its&nbsp;president and CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik Aziz said any decision&nbsp;will still need&nbsp;to go through the group's board of directors first.</div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>“We always make dividend decisions premised on whether we can&nbsp;afford it&nbsp;— whether we can contend with capex, opex, debt servicing and the need to actually have a buffer to weather volatility, which has been pronounced,” he said, reiterating&nbsp;that Petronas could contend with the RM18 billion dividend payment made to the government last year.</div><div class=inPageAd id=div-gpt-ad-inpage></div>
