KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 4): The High Court was told today that no one in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) dared to question Datuk Seri Najib Razak regarding the source of funds received by him when he was the most powerful person in the country.

Najib's former special officer Datuk Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin, 43, said at the witness stand that this was because the PMO officers feared being seen as doubting Najib's credibility.

"Generally, I think the officers in PMO had never and could not even ask Datuk Seri Najib from where he received his funds, because this would be seen as having no confidence in his credibility," Amhari said.

Amhari, who worked closely with the late Datuk Azlin Alias in handling 1MDB-related affairs, noted that he believed Najib had received some of his funds from fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho.

"Prior to the GE13, Jho (Jho Low) told me and Datuk Azlin (Alias) about using funds to win majority vote in Pulau Pinang for the election.

"Jho, however, had never explained how he got the money. Until today, I do not know the status of the monies in the account as it is still under the control of Jho," he told the court in his testimony today.
