KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 15): Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong has emerged as a substantial shareholder of PA Resources Bhd with an 8.44% indirect stake, after he subscribed to the company’s private placement shares. 

Kong is the founder of Nirvana Asia Group, which is involved in the funeral parlour business. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, PA Resources said Kong’s vehicle Sekitar Tropika Sdn Bhd on Nov 13, bought 187.04 million or 8.44% stake via share placement shares or 8.44% stake in the company.

On June 21, PA Resources announced to raise up to RM23.39 million via a private placement of up to 20% of its total issued shares to third party investor(s) to be identified later.

The company said the proposed private placement enables it to raise funds for capital expenditure and working capital requirements for its aluminium extrusion and fabrication business. 

In a separate filing, the group said some 228.18 million placement shares were listed and quoted on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities, with effect from 9am today. 

Shares price of PA Resources closed unchanged at six sen, but the counter was heavily traded with some 18.34 million shares exchanging hands. Its market capitalisation stood at RM132.93 million.
