The Labuan Financial Services Authority (FSA) has appointed Danial Mah Abdullah as its new director-general for a three-year term, effective Oct 3.

According to a Sept 26 statement, Danial will succeed Datuk Ahmad Hizzad Baharuddin, who will be completing his secondment to Labuan FSA.

Danial joined Labuan FSA in 1997, holding various positions in the organisation before being appointed the deputy director-general in 2007. Currently, he is also the chairman of Labuan FSA’s Credit Risk, Investment and Risk Management Committee; Asset Management Committee; and Talent Management Committee.

Apart from being the secretary to Labuan FSA, Danial is also a member of the Executive Committee of the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM), an alternate board member of IIFM and a member of the Financial Stability Committee.

Danial has served as the interim CEO of Labuan IBFC Incorporated Sdn Bhd since 2015. At the moment, he is a board member of Labuan IBFC Incorporated, Labuan FSA Incorporated Sdn Bhd and Pristine Era Sdn Bhd.

Danial is a chartered accountant registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and an associate member of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Malaya and a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction) from Manchester Business School, the UK.
