KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 20): Aurelius Healthcare Sdn Bhd has made its first hospital acquisition, being the 100-bed multidisciplinary Nilai Medical Centre.

In a press release by the healthcare specialist, Aurelius said the acquisition is a strong fit with its strategy to transform healthcare delivery to achieve the most favourable outcomes for patients’ health.

Nilai Medical Centre will be renamed as Aurelius Hospital Nilai from September 2021.

The acquisition amount was not disclosed by the healthcare specialist.

“We aspire for rapid growth and improvements for this excellent hospital with its dedicated doctors and staff. It will continue to serve the communities in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and Melaka, and shall be fully transformed for oncology care, cardiology, women and children’s care, orthopaedics and all other clinical specialities of a tertiary hospital for patients at every stage of their life.

"There are plans to rapidly expand the hospital with an additional in-patient medical block to provide patients and caregivers with exceptional care and support,” said founder and group managing director of Aurelius Datuk Amir Firdaus Abdullah in the statement.

Notably, private equity (PE) firm Navis Capital Partners completed a majority investment in Aurelius in May, but the exact stake in the healthcare specialist was not disclosed in the statement.

The PE firm said that it is committed to growing the organisation with the aim of having five to 10 hospitals rapidly operating within the platform.

“Aurelius and Navis have a common vision of how private healthcare could better serve the communities in the region. Through world-class healthcare management practice, engagement with various stakeholders around common goals, integrated care and investments in medical technology, we will make healthcare more accessible for our communities,” said Navis partner Edwin Fua.

Fua added that the PE firm is open to partnership discussions, be it on a greenfield or brownfield basis.

Aurelius was incorporated in 2019 in Malaysia and is led by a team of industry veterans with global healthcare management experience who are seeking to modernise and make healthcare more accessible across the nation.
