KUALA LUMPUR: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deputy chief executive officer (CEO) (investment) Datuk Mohamad Nasir Ab Latif (pic) will be retiring upon his contract’s expiry at the end of this month, according to a source with knowledge of the matter.

The departure would mark an end to Mohamad Nasir’s 37-year journey with the pension fund. It comes after completing a one-year extension of his contract from Nov 14, 2018 to Dec 31 this year.

The extension, according to a statement at the time, was “to ensure continuity in the EPF’s investment division and enable a smooth succession plan”.

Mohamad Nasir’s position will be succeeded by someone within the EPF, the source said. The official announcement is expected by end-December. The EPF has not responded to The Edge Financial Daily’s queries.

Mohamad Nasir’s career at the EPF started in 1982, holding several positions before being appointed deputy CEO of the investment division since April 15, 2013.

He currently sits on the boards of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Yinson Holdings Bhd, BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, Battersea Project Holding Co Ltd and Yarra Park City Pty Ltd.

At the EPF, Mohamad Nasir was the state enforcement officer from 1990 to 1995, senior research officer, manager and senior manager of the Investment and Economics Research Department (1995-2003) and the International Equity Investment Department general manager (2009-2013).

Mohamad Nasir graduated with a Bachelor in Social Science (Economics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and obtained a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1996.

He also holds a Master of Science in Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling, the UK (1999).
