KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 23): Australian national Naresh Alagan has been appointed group chief executive officer of education group Minda Global Bhd, replacing Tan Sri Dr Palaniappan Ramanathan Chettiar who has been redesignated group managing director.

In a bourse filing today, Minda Global said Naresh’s appointment takes effect from today.

Naresh, 45, was previously the CEO and executive director of Air Asia Global Shared Services, overseeing more than 350 professional staff providing financial, people, information technology and business support to the AirAsia Group. He was also a former manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory, Malaysia.

His 25-year experience in the corporate sector includes corporate strategy, business planning, performance improvement, change and transformation, financial restructuring, treasury operations and merger integration.

Minda Global operates educational institutions such as the Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences, Asia Metropolitan University, Asia Metropolitan Colleges and the Asia Metropolitan International School.

Minda Global closed 0.5 sen or 10% lower today to 4.5 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM55 million.
