KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 21): The newly-launched National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP 2020) has several targets, listed below:

1) NAP 2020 targets automotive sector GDP contribution of RM104.2 billion by 2030.

2) Government targets 1.47 million vehicle units for total production volume by 2030 under NAP 2020.

3) Total industry volume forecasted to reach 1.22 million units by 2030 as part of  NAP 2020.

4) RM12.3 billion in complete built up (CBU) exports targeted for 2030 under NAP 2020.

5) MITI targeting RM28.3 billion in exports of new automotive parts and components by 2030 under NAP.

6) RM10 billion worth of exports of remanufactured parts and components by 2030 for NAP 2020.

7) 323,000 new jobs to be created in auto industry by 2030 under NAP 2020.

8) 128,000 auto manufacturing job opportunities targeted to be created by 2030 under NAP 2020.

9) 46,000 auto after-market job opportunities targeted to be created by 2030 under NAP 2020.

10) 30,000 robotics jobs for the auto sector targeted to be created by 2030 under NAP 2020.

11) 44,000 Internet of Things (IoT) jobs in auto sector to be created by 2030 under NAP 2020.

12) 75,000 mobility as a service (MaaS) job opportunities to be created by 2030 as part of NAP 2020.

13) Total automotive suppliers: Tier 1 — 400, Tier 2 and below — 885

14) Supplier competitiveness level:
• Level 5 — 360 companies
• Level 4 — 660 companies
• Level 3 — 880 companies

15) Industry4QRD readiness:
• Leaders — 280 companies
• Experienced — 500 companies
• Learner — 660 companies

16) New System Integrator:           
• Robotics — 350 companies
• IoT — 380 companies

17) Technology Development:
i. Establishment of full-fledge vehicle type approval (VTA) testing centre
ii. Establishment of electric vehicle interoperability centre (EVIC)
