KUALA LUMPUR (Mar 23): North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$2.41 billion in billings worldwide in February 2018, according to the U.S.-based Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International’s (SEMI) November Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) Billings Report.
In a statement on its website March 22, SEMI said the billings figure is 1.7% higher than the final January 2018 level of US$2.37 billion, and is 22.2% higher than the February 2017 billings level of US$1.97 billion.
SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha said February billings remain at a level indicating another positive year for semiconductor equipment spending.
“We expect 2018 to mark the fourth consecutive year of spending growth, which last occurred in the 1990s,” he said.
