KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$2.32 billion in billings worldwide in June 2020, according to the U.S.-based Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International’s (SEMI) November Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) Billings Report.

In a preliminary reading on its website July 28, SEMI reported that the three-month average of worldwide billings of North American equipment manufacturers in June 2020 rose 14.4% to US$2.32 billion.

SEMI CEO Ajit Manocha said the June billings of North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers continue to show signs of resilience as the world copes with new realities posed by COVID-19.

“The year-over-year billings increase points to strong fundamentals that are enabling the semiconductor industry to effectively navigate these challenging times,” he said.

SEMI however added that the June billings of semiconductor manufacturing equipment by US producers were down 1.1% from the US$2.34 billion in May 2020.
