KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$1.24 billion in orders worldwide in November 2015 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 0.96, according to the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

A book-to-bill of 0.96 means that US$96 worth of orders were received for every US$100 of product billed for the month.

In a statetement on its website on Dec 17, SEMI said the bookings figure was 6.7% lower than the final October 2015 level of US$1.33 billion, and is 1.7% higher than the November 2014 order level of US$1.22 billion.

SEMI president and CEO Denny McGuirk the semiconductor equipment book-to-bill ratio continued to decelerate in the fourth quarter.

“In light of this recent softening and with the currently strong U.S. dollar, SEMI anticipates that the total equipment market (billings) will be flat to slightly down this year vs. last year as reported in U.S. dollars,” he said.
