KUALA LUMPUR: Poultry farming group Teo Seng Capital Bhd announced that Nam Hiok Joo has taken over the role of the group’s new managing director (MD), effective yesterday, following the retirement of his 62-year-old brother Nam Yok San from the post on the same day.

Hiok Joo, 51, is currently a general manager of Teo Seng Feedmill Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teo Seng, where he is responsible for the operation and production of chicken feed, according to Teo Seng’s Bursa Malaysia filing.

“He oversees the quality control of the feed and ensures that they meet the nutritional requirement of chickens at the different growing stages. He is also overseeing the group’s administrative operations,” added Teo Seng.

He is also the MD of Ritma Prestasi Sdn Bhd, where he plays a major role in the company’s management and business directions.

Hiok Joo is also brother to executive director Na Yok Chee as well as Na Hap Cheng — who are both indirect major shareholders of the company.

Yok San, meanwhile, had been MD of the group from June 19, 2008. He has about 45 years of experience in poultry farming, of which the past 25 years were focused on the layer farming business.

Teo Seng shares slipped one sen to trade at 86 sen apiece yesterday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM257.76 million.
