KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is no longer the chairman of Khazanah Nasional Bhd effective immediately.

In a brief statement this evening, the sovereign wealth fund said former second finance minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and former treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar have also resigned as members of the board.

Johari had resigned effective yesterday, while Irwan's resignation was effective from May 23.

Earlier today, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said it was only "fit and proper" for former BN government officials who still sit on the board of government-linked corporations such as Khazanah to "do the right thing and resign".

Najib had held the chairmanship of Khazanah, which is owned by the Ministry of Finance Inc, by virtue of his position as former prime minister and finance minister.
