KUALA LUMPUR (July 4): Datuk Seri Najib Razak has arrived to the Kuala Lumpur High Court to become the the first Malaysian former prime minister to be charged at the court of law.

At about 8.15am Najib, dressed in blue, was escorted into the Jalan Duta Court complex through a group of media personnels and supporters of the former premier. 

Earlier, lawyer Datuk K Kumaraendran was seen entering the witness room before Najib was brought into the High Court.

The situation was tense outside the court room, with reporters camping outside guarded by tight police security.

At press time, several Umno leaders were present to give support to the former party president. However, Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was absent. 

It is understood that Najib will be facing three charges of criminal breach of trust, namely under the MACC Act 2009 and  the Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLA) 2001.
