KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been arrested at 2.35pm today in relation to SRC International Sdn Bhd and will be charged tomorrow, said the special task force set up to probe 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

"The arrest was made at his home in Jalan Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, today," the task force said in a statement.

"Najib will be charged on July 4, 2018 (tomorrow) at 8.30am in a Kuala Lumpur Court," it added.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) official said Najib has been brought to MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, where he will spend the night in the lock-up before being charged tomorrow.

SRC International, set up in 2011 by Najib to explore strategic in the energy sector, was formerly a subsidiary of 1MDB before it was placed under the purview of the Finance Ministry, which Najib also helmed.

The four-man task force comprises former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, former MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, newly appointed MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull, and Bukit Aman Special Branch director Datuk Abdul Hamid Badoor.
