KUALA LUMPUR (May 1): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his nemesis Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad spoke at ceramahs at venues here a few kilometers apart from each other tonight with both attracting thousands of supporters.

In Wangsa Maju, Najib said the strong consensus between all Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties will be the basis for its success in the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.

According to Bernama, he said BN is a structured and disciplined coalition, and its principle of consensus-building showed that component members placed the coalition above everything else, and welcomed candidates chosen to contest with open arms.

"It does not matter if (someone from) MCA is a candidate, it is BN. It does not matter if (someone from) UMNO is a candidate, it is BN too. I does not matter if (someone from) MIC is a candidate, it is BN too.

"With such a spirit, on May 9, Putrajaya will continue to be ours," said the BN chairman during a programme with the people of Wangsa Maju, Bernama reported.

Thousands of residents and voters in the area turned up for the event.

Also present were the BN candidate for the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look, Wangsa Maju UMNO chief Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Shafei Abdullah, Bernama reported.

Over in Desa Pandan within the Parliamentary constituency of Titiwangsa, Mahathir spoke about the "biggest mistake of his life".

"The biggest mistake of my life is choosing Najib Abdul Razak (as prime minister).
