KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): My EG Services Bhd (MyEG) has been appointed by the Home Affairs Ministry to undertake the voluntary repatriation of illegal foreign workers for the Immigration Department.

MyEG said today that the tenure of the job, offered via a letter dated Oct 10, is valid for the period from Oct 10 to Dec 31.

“The project has no fixed value, as it is dependent on the number of foreign workers successfully repatriated,” the electronic services provider said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

“Nonetheless, the board of directors is of the view that the project is in the best interest of the company and is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of the company for the financial year ending June 30, 2018,” MyEG added.

To formalise the acceptance of the project, MyEG said it will ink an agreement with the authority in due course.

Early this year, MyEG won an extension of a contract to manage illegal foreign workers (except for workers from Myanmar) under the rehiring programme which started on Aug 15, 2016 and is to end on Dec 31 this year.

MyEG’s share prices dipped one sen or 0.5% to RM2.04 today, valuing the group at RM7.36 billion.
