KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 13):  Mycron Steel Bhd managing director Azlan Abdullah has been redesignated as a non-executive director of the company.

No reason was given by Mycron for the move.

According to Mycron's Annual Report 2017, Azlan was appointed to the board of directors of the Company on March 30, 2004 as an executive director and group chief executive officer (CEO).

He is currently the managing director and group CEO of Melewar Industrial Group Bhd, which has a 71.3% stake in Mycron, and sits on the boards of MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd, Langkawi Yacht Club Bhd and several other private limited companies.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Mycron said Azlan, 60, started his career in 1983 with Citibank NA and in 1987, he joined United Asian Bank (UAB) where he started and headed the treasury marketing unit.

After UAB merged with Bank of Commerce, he was subsequently promoted to head of priority banking division and branch manager of the KL main branch in 1992. In 1994, he rejoined Citibank Bhd as vice-president and head of public sector division.

Mycron shares closed unchanged at 46.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM131.85 million.
