JOHOR BAHRU (May 11) : The new Johor Menteri Besar from Pakatan Harapan will be sworn in tomorrow afternoon, after getting approval from the state ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, said state Pakatan chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“I had had an audience with Tuanku this morning and his majesty congratulated Pakatan for our victory in the election, and reminded us to ensure that our economic agenda will have an impact on to the state and the people of Johor,” Muhyiddin said.

Several names have been proposed by the coalition for the sultan’s consideration, Muhyiddin told a press conference in Senai.

Asked if his name is included in the list, he said he does not wish to be considered, as he wants to give way to someone younger.

Instead of being the Menteri Besar, he would like to be the bridge between the federal and Johor governments, Muhyiddin said.

The new Menteri Besar would be someone who has administrative experience and familiar with Johor policies, he added.

Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s president, said the formation of the government of Johor has to adhere to the state’s constitution.

He said the state constitution provides for the Sultan to decide on the post.

Muhyiddin also proposed for a State Economic Development Council to be formed, adding he was prepared to provide advisory services to the council.

When asked whether the Forest City project will be among China’s investments that will be reviewed by Pakatan, Muhyiddin said it would be decided by the new state government.
