KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 04): Malaysian firms Muhibbah Engineering (M) Bhd and AlloyMTD are among 20 potential bidders for the planned PHP123 billion (RM9 billion) Laguna Lakeshore Expressway Dike project in the Philippines, according to a report in The Philippine Star.

The Philippine Star, quoting AlloyMTD President Isaac David, reported that AlloyMTD, South Korea's Hashin Group and the Philippines-based Vista Land and Lifescape Inc, had formed a consortium to bid for the Laguna Lakeshore contract.

Laguna Lakeshore is said to be the Aquino administration’s largest public-private partnership project.

The report quoted David as saying that the AlloyMTD-Hashin-Vista Land consortium was looking to rope in Dutch-owned reclamation firm Van Oord to join them.

“We just talked, but will revert back soon to confirm their equity share,” David said.

According to The Philippine Star, foreign firms with Philippines-based units such as Egis SA of France and Leighton Contractors of Australia, were also looking at the project.

It was also reported that the Philippines-based companies including San Miguel Corp, Ayala Land Inc and Lucio Tan Group, had purchased bid documents for the project.

The Phillipines' Public Works and Highways Department has given interested companies until this October 16 to submit their prequalification documents, according to the report.
