KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has appointed Shahrul Fadli Omar (pictured) as its chief financial officer (CFO) effective Oct 1, 2019.

In a statement today, MRT Corp said Shahrul Fadli, who was its acting CFO since Jan 1 this year after the resignation of Datuk Mohd Hairul Abdul Hamid, has been with the company since July 2013.

It said prior to joining MRT Corp as the head of financial operations, Shahrul Fadli was the senior finance manager of Prokhas Sdn Bhd.

It added that during his time there, he was already dealing with the Klang Valley MRT Project as he assisted MRT Corp's financial operations when it was outsourced to Prokhas.

MRT Corp chief executive officer Abdul Yazid Kassim said Shahrul Fadli was the correct candidate for the position, having served the project since the early stages.

"Shahrul Fadli's long-standing experience with the Klang Valley Project will be much-needed as the project undergoes cost rationalisation," said Abdul Yazid.

Shahrul Fadli had also served as the head of finance at Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd (currently known as Prasarana Malaysia Bhd or Prasarana) between 2005 and 2011.

Shahrul Fadli obtained his Bachelor of Management Control (Hons.) from Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom, in 1999 and completed his Corporate Diploma in Public Transport from Malaysia Institute of Transport in 2009.

He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Malaysia Institute of Accountants.
