KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): More than 30,200 units of Honda City were sold from January to November this year, making it the largest contributor to Honda Malaysia's sales volume at 32 per cent during the period.

Honda Malaysia President and Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah said the City also maintained its leadership in the B-segment.

(According to the European letter designation system which arranges vehicle weight, width and length, B-segment car are cars that are about four-metre long.)

“The City offers a perfect combination of performance and fuel economy with unrivalled features and class leading safety features at a great price point, making it the most sought-after model by Malaysians,” he said at the Joy of Buying contest prize-giving ceremony here today.

The seven grand prize winners of the contest, which was held in conjunction with Honda's 70th anniversary and Malaysia's Independence Day, received a new Honda City each.

Roslan said the contest was also an effort by the company to show its gratitude to the customers who had made Honda the most preferred non-national car company.

"It is the strong support of our customers that has enabled Honda Malaysia to be the no 1 brand in the non-national segment for three consecutive years," he said.

The two-month contest, which began in September, received more than 4,800 submissions nationwide, of which a total of 301 winners have been chosen.

In addition to the seven grand prizes, there are 17 second-place winners who will receive a Sony Blu-ray Home Cinema System each and 277 other winners will get Honda official merchandise.
