KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): There are 5,084 participants at the tabligh assembly at Sri Petaling Mosque between Feb 27 and March 1 who have yet to be tested for the Covid-19 virus.

The Ministry of Health (MoH) urges these participants to come forward to take the test, which will help the government’s efforts to contain the outbreak.

Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah disclosed at the press conference today that 17,584, including the attendees plus those who have close contact with them such as family members, have been screened and samples have been taken for 12,500, with 1,207 positive cases, and 6,648 tested negative, while another 4,645 samples are pending results.

The 1,207 cases related to the tabligh cluster account for more than half of the country’s tally of 2,320 as of noon today.

“We need to find the 5,084 who we have not tested yet among the tabligh group. We hope that we can test them in time.

“We have their addresses and we can try to find them. Hopefully, they can come forward to do the testing,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

Malaysia reported 159 new Covid-19 cases at 12pm today, bringing the total to 2,320.

Of the total, 73 patients are being treated in the ICU (intensive care unit) of which 54 patients require breathing assistance,” Dr Noor Hisham told the media on the Covid-19 update today.

Meanwhile, another 61 patients have been discharged, bringing the total healed cases to 320 or a discharge rate of 13.8% so far.

Unfortunately, there is one new death today, bringing the total to 27 or a rate of 1.16%.
