KUALA LUMPUR (March 19): An employee at MIMOS Bhd has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement, the national applied research and development centre said that the employee at its Technology Park Malaysia office in Bukit Jalil had tested positive for the disease yesterday and is now receiving medical attention at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Consequently, all entry to MIMOS is now prohibited until March 31.

“The affected employee, a 28-year old engineer, had gone to seek treatment after developing symptoms, and was subsequently diagnosed as positive with Covid-19,” it said.

MIMOS added that it started taking precautionary measures against the virus since the outbreak started last year, and has made arrangements for the temporary closure of its offices in Technology Park Malaysia and Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah from March 18-31 in compliance with the movement control order.

All employees who have been in direct contract with the infected person from March 2 to March 12 have been asked to undergo screening and testing, as well as observe a self-quarantine period at home for 14 days.

“MIMOS would like to emphasise that HSE is its key priority. All visitors to MIMOS’ office in Technology Park Malaysia from March 2 to 12 are advised to seek medical care if they develop symptoms of COVID-19,” it added.
