KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 30): Mikro MSC Bhd's net profit for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2016 (4QFY16) rose 23.77% to RM2.37 million from RM1.92 million a year earlier, mainly due to higher revenue and better gross margin recorded.

Revenue rose 17.94% to RM12.52 million from RM10.62 million, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, adding that a higher proportion of sales were conducted in Malaysia in 4QFY16.

Mikro MSC declared a final single tier dividend of 0.5 sen per share and a special dividend of 0.5 sen per share for FY16, bringing total payout to 2.1 sen, translating into a dividend yield of 4.57%.

For FY16 as a whole, the electronics products maker's net profit grew 25.25% to RM10.34 million from RM8.26 million in FY15. Revenue rose 23.42% to RM48.11 million from RM38.99 million.

Total units sold during the year was 10.88% higher compared with FY15, indicating continued acceptance of the group's products, said Mikro MSC.

"The group expects its current year performance to be broadly in line with the previous year performance based on the anticipated launches of a new series of relay, the potential materialisation of ongoing development to develop new localised market within our designated overseas market and the current favourable US dollar to ringgit exchange rate," it said.

Mikro MSC's share price gained 1 sen or 2.22% to close at 46 sen today with 460,600 shares traded. At its current level, it is trading at a trailing P/E of 13.39 times, with a market capitalisation of RM140.72 million. Year to date, it has increased by 15% and its share price has rallied by 44.87% compared to a year earlier.
