KUALA LUMPUR (April 27): Mercedes-Benz’s MercedesTrophy golf tournament has returned.

In a statement, the German auto marque said the tournament is an exclusive international tournament series for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia customers who are golf enthusiasts.

Globally, over 60,000 participants in more than 60 countries play in the tournament every year. To date, over a million customers and fans have participated in the competition, which was first introduced in 1991.

This year’s competition will have five qualifying rounds, the first of which will take place at the Palm Garden Golf Club, Putrajaya, on May 25. The top five winners of each round will then compete at the National Final, which will be held at the Saujana Golf and Country Club, Selangor on July 15.

Finalists will also be invited to attend its very first Mercedes-Benz Demo Clinic Day, where they will receive the most accurate analysis of their swing profile and club assessment.

The top two finishing finalists with higher stableford points at the National Final will be selected to represent Malaysia in the MercedesTrophy World Finals in Stuttgart, Germany later this year.

The luxury automaker added the first player to achieve a Hole-In-One on any of the two designated par-3 holes at each venue will win the new Mercedes-Benz E 200 Sportstyle Avantgarde.

Other prizes include Mercedes-Benz merchandise and other prizes from marketing partners for the tournament, which include Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia, Crestlink, EPOS, The Edge, Taylormade, The Saujana Hotel, and Carlsberg.

“The connection between Mercedes-Benz and golf is deep-rooted as we share the same passion for perfection. They both share a similar spirit in striving to get the perfect drive and this is what our customers love the most.

“This strong connection has led to the active involvement of our brand in this sport since 1989, and the MercedesTrophy since 1991. The game always brings us back together for more and is capable of turning anyone into a fan of both the sport and our brand,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner.

It is inviting all Mercedes-Benz owners who have purchased a vehicle from all authorised dealers in the last five years to participate in the tournament. Those who are interested may register at www.mercedes-benz.com.my/mercedestrophy.
