KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd recorded year-to-date sales of more than 8,000 passenger cars, surpassing last year’s 6,932 units.
Year-on-year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice president of sales and marketing Mark Raine said the premium car maker had seen a sales growth of 40%.
“We have had a fantastic first half in 2015, and I believe that we have a great positioning for our products in the market,” Raine told theedgemarkets.com during the launch of the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S model today.
Despite the current challenging economic climate, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, a joint venture between Daimler AG and Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd, had achieved record-breaking monthly sales so far, according to Raine.
He said the record-breaking monthly sales were due to “the successful sales of all types of Mercedes-Benz models”.
Mercedes-Benz’s website shows that its vehicle models include the A-Class, C-Class and S-Class.
At the launch of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S, Raine said the model came with an on-the-road price tag of RM698,888, without insurance.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S flaunts a 4.0-litre bi-turbo engine and top speed of 250km per hour, according to him.
“Whether in terms of power, driving dynamics, the C 63 S sets new standards and will further reinforce our brand claim of ‘Driving Performance’,” Raine told the audience during the launch.
At 3.53pm, Cycle & Carriage Bintang shares rose two sen or 0.8% to RM2.68 for a market capitalisation of RM270 million. The stock saw 46,100 shares done.
